About John #01Workplace Experience
Following college he worked in the computer industry for a number of years. He was a University Research Fellow in the field of education and was a freelance computer and management consultant. All of these fields give him a wide experience of the workplace setting. He was elected as 'Fellow of the Institute of Directors' (FInstD) in 1985.

Counselling Experience
John became interested in Psychology in the 1970's and read for an Open University Degree. He was a founder member of the OU Psychological Society and became its National Chairman. Later he trained at the 'International Centre for Counselling and Professional Development' in Professional Person Centred Counselling and therapy and holds a Diploma from them. Further training in Group Work and Supervision followed. He is a Founder member and was for years on the Steering Group of the 'Person Centred Approach - South West', which organisation he still supports. He sponsors Person-Centred training events on a regular basis, to help maintain the profile of the approach.

He now splits his time between his private practrice and being Director of the highly respected Palace Gate Counselling Service in Exeter, where he works with a team of over 35 counsellors. He is also Director of 'Taunton Counselling Service'.

Supervision
John currently supervises over 30 counsellors working in the voluntary, private and public sectors. He also supports those who are not therapists, but who work in demanding workplace situations.
